Quality Clinicians Equips Per Diem Nurses with Seamless Same-Day Pay

Quality Clinicians is a healthcare staffing company incorporated in locations across the U.S. including Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin, as well as Ecuador and the Philippines. They provide temporary contract staff to hospitals to help fill seasonal staffing gaps. Their team was looking for a competitive edge in the healthcare staffing space—and they knew same-day pay could play an important role. We spoke with Daniel Stull, VP of Operations, on how selecting Branch to offer same-day pay to their clinicians has impacted their business. 

Recognizing the importance of same-day pay for per diem nurses

Quality Clinicians works with per diem nurses and other clinicians including nursing assistants, radiology techs, and more. They were previously paying out their clinicians on a weekly basis, but started hearing that same-day pay was an attractive incentive for many healthcare professionals. 

“Some of the travel nurses or other staff we’d recruited would bring it up, mentioning that other agencies they worked with offer same-day pay, and how much they liked it,” says Stull. 

Since Quality Clinicians was already looking for ways to grow their per diem department, they took this feedback seriously. They anticipated same-day pay would become an integral offering for per diem clinicians. 

Stull and his team had also had their fair share of problems with payments technologies they had used in the past—making them especially invested in finding a same-day pay solution that could be easily implemented and wouldn’t cause them additional hassle. 

Spreading the word about a seamless, free solution

As Stull and his team began their search for a payments provider, they explored a few different options, but not all of them were cost-effective. Branch came highly recommended by their workforce management software TeamBridge, and Stull was pleased to find that Branch was available for free to both the staffing company and their clinicians. 

“The terms were just so favorable to us that we didn’t need to shop around anymore. We don’t need to pay for Branch’s services, so it couldn’t get much better than that,” says Stull. 

Quality Clinicians soon implemented Branch as a solution and started to plan the best way to get the word out about this new perk for per diem nurses. Stull and his team decided to start with a grassroots marketing campaign to spread the word to travel clinicians in their database. 

They sent out a text to everyone in the area of their largest customer base of hospitals and for the first time ever, included the incentive of same-day pay in the text. Stull noticed that they saw better engagement with this marketing campaign—by mentioning the allure of same-day pay—than they had with other ones. 

“At least 300 clinicians responded to that text,” Stull says, noting that the number is much higher than average. 

Streamlining operations and saving money in the process

Though there was some initial hesitancy from a few of their clinicians about switching to Branch, Stull and his team found that now same-day pay is an expected perk they don’t want to go without. 

With the competition for healthcare talent still tough, offering the competitive perk of same-day pay continues to be enticing for new recruits, too, who are eager to work and get paid the same day.

“A lot of people who go on to work for us bring up same-day pay when they start,” says Stull. “They mention that they signed up for it and start asking about it right away.”

Another perk of partnering with Branch is that Quality Clinicians has been able to save a substantial amount of money. In contrast to other solutions where it would cost them roughly $600 a month per worker—paying clinicians through Branch is a free experience. 

“It easily saves us $2,000 a month in just payroll fees,” says Stull. 

And for the Quality Clinicians team, having a trusted payments partner who can seamlessly pay all of their clinicians the same day they work—without making more complications for them—has been refreshing. 

“I just appreciate how well it works,” says Stull. “Switching to Branch has made our lives a lot easier,” he says.
