Unveiling Our Inaugural State of Gig & Staffing Report
Heading
The world of work has changed in countless ways since the pandemic; but perhaps one of the biggest shifts has been the accelerated growth of the contingent workforce. By 2050, the contingent workforce is estimated to make up 50% of the total U.S. workforce.
Why are more people seeking 1099 opportunities instead of traditional W-2 roles?
Though we’ve conducted several reports about gig work over the years, this year we decided to take a fresh approach. We wanted to understand the contingent workforce as a whole, and that includes workers placed in roles from traditional staffing agencies and new staffing platforms, too.
The staffing industry has seen tremendous change right alongside the world of gig marketplaces, and the two often go head-to-head in the fight for contingent talent. How can today’s staffing agencies compete with app-based platforms for talent? And what makes someone who’s interested in contingent work pick one platform or agency over another?
We dove into these questions by surveying more than 500 contingent workers across industries about their work preferences, habits, and challenges. Their answers highlight the significant role gig and staffing work are playing in providing the flexibility and financial resilience today’s workforce needs—and how you can deliver these things in order to secure more talent.
